"The AMAA is a fabulous way to bring friends and family together. The team at AMAA empowers their students with important values like courtesy, respect, patience, confidence, self-esteem, positive attitude and indomitable spirit. These are not easy concepts for a parent to teach or instill in their young children and with the help of AMAA, this is possible.
We have, and continue to recommend AMAA to friends and family. Our son, Liam joined the AMAA family at age 3 ½ and he has been having a great time ever since. He looks forward to each class after school and is motivated to attend and participate.
Sensei McCray and each of the instructors are dedicated to the children and have developed a relationship that has grown with such meaning. The AMAA not only teaches self-defense but also life lessons of kindness, teamwork and discipline. Liam is now 6 and just in the 3 short years that he has been with AMAA, we can see that he is growing to be such a respectable fine boy and works hard for the goals that he sets for himself. With each belt that he earns, he becomes more proud of what he has achieved as do we.
Our daughter, Sophia, has recently joined the team. After watching her big brother in the dojo, she was motivated to learn and become a part of the team. She is 4 and enjoys it just as much as her brother. She looks forward to going each week as well as what new things she will learn. She too is beginning to develop the positive behaviors and values that are taught.
Our 6 year old daughter, Isabella, Liam's twin, attends the karate camps in the summer and finds this to be a great learning experience as well as a fun time to spend together with her brother and sister. This has also provided her the opportunity to see her school friends again. From birthday parties and karate sessions to belt ceremonies and camps, you are sure to find fun for the whole family.
We are very proud of all our children and are thankful for the opportunity to be taught by Sensei McCray and his team. We love them like our own family ! Parents of 3 in Seaville, NJ
Hi Maura and Sensei,
We want to thank you for all the many gifts you gave to Keith during his long and growthful journey to "First degree Black Belt". You have both taught and modeled many virtues that he needs in life. These virtues include patience, kindness,self-control, courtesy ,committment ,and an indominable spirit.
We remember the early days when Keith's ADHD was not controlled and he couldn't stay still for 5 minutes. Sensei, you were so kind and patient, yet firm ,and that combinatin did wonders for him. He never felt ashamed but knew he needed to practice self-control. These years were very challenging in school he always loved Karate. You built his self esteem and his skills. He is proud of all the hard work he has accomplished getting his Black Belt and all the support the entire staff has given to him
The American Martial Arts Academy has the most well-trained instructors who are truly Professional in their dealings with patents and students. Sensei John McCray has developed the program that surpasses all other in this area. The focus on self-defense not aggression, and on personal development rather than ego. If any future parent want to contact us we are available to share our wonderful experiences with you. We can be reached through Maura.

We have been an AMAA family since 2006. We have two sons who have opposite personalities, and we have found that the program at AMAA has been very well suited to each of them. Our older son has come out of his shell, gained confidence in a group setting, and has made some good friends in his class. Our younger son has learned to settle down and focus, without having his bold personality squashed. I am grateful that the instructors and staff at AMAA have taken the time to get to know our kids, and have helped each of them capitalize on their strengths.
The staff and instructors are an interesting assorted bunch of people. There are men, women, teens and older siblings who all help to lead the classes. They model courtesy, kindness and respect, teaching their students by their example. There is something so wonderful about seeing the kids in class shake hands with each other and acknowledging their accomplishments. This happens because they are taught that sportsmanship is about supporting others in the manner they would like to be supported. There are such excellent life lessons that are taught every day in the classroom – skills that will benefit the students in many aspects of their life.
The other special thing about AMAA is that they strive to create a sense of community. The staff and instructors make an effort to know the families, not just the students. It is a very safe, friendly, family-oriented environment. We could not be happier with the experience we have at AMAA.
Sincerely,Kim and Jim Studzinski
